OK I have scanned the forums for the last half an hour to find the answer to this problem so i am sorry if it has already been covered.
I have been using shrink and decrypter now with absolutely no problems untill i tried to back up my copy of precinct 17. I just took the actual movie and left out all the extras and commentaries and the likes and it burnt fine. The problem is that when i go to play it back i get these annoying little pauses between each chapter. I left out all menus and such (not sure if that makes a difference)but i still seem to get these couple of second pauses each time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, even someone else that has the same problem.
Skips, pauses, freezes and pixellation usually is media related. Did you change your brand of media, are you using cheap media? Are you burning too fast, 4x usually causes less errors. Is your burner firmware up to date? Did you rip it first to your hard drive?
Okeys obviously more info required. I was burning on a very low speed (1* im pretty sure). I used shrink to rip it to my hard drive and used decrypter to burn it. The disks i have arent great but they have worked many times before without any major probs (none similar to this anyway). How do i check the firmware, thats something i know very little about.
Try ripping the disk with Decrypter and then use Shrink, you may have gotten a disk that Shrink did not like. As for your firmware, open Decrypter and the go to the Tools tab, then drive and on the bottom you will see check for firmware updates, it should show if you need to update. If you want to see what your current version of firmware is just use the Tools tab, then drive and click on capabilities and it will show all the properties of your drive. What brand of media are you using, this still could be the problem.
If your positive the pauses are at the end of chapters ONLY, ie not randomly throughout the movie, then you may have a branching problem. This will happen when a main title is looking for another title that was removed when you reauthored. Do you mean Precinct 13? If so I did a reauthor movie only, and had no issues. To check if you are having branching problems, when in Shrink look if there are 2 main titles, if so you'll have to monkey with how you reauthor to get it to work smoothly. Shrink has trouble the odd time when reauthoring movies that have branching or that give you the option to jump to extras or deleted scenes while matching the main movie. If this isn't one of those discs, I would try what the other member suggested and try some better blanks. Unfortunately 90% of backup problems are poor media related.
Thanks man, yeah that was the film, soz bout the name screw up. I think that branching thing might have something to do with it. My media is pretty cheap but it has worked before. Either way thanks and ill prob be back.
