Any tips on creating animated gifs/screensavers? V620

I've tried and tried to make animated gifs for my phone(v620), but everytime I put one onto my phone it only shows the first frame and doesn't animate!

I've used Macromedia Flash to do the animating and just published them as animated gif's from that.

Anyone have any tips on how to create suitable animated gif's? Dimensions, no. of frames, frame rate, no. of colours...etc
