Hey, I am trying to stay away from posting in the Safety Valve but, this REALLY ticks me off.
Ok, here are some errors of the claim that I could pick out:
1) They talk about 1999 samples, urine would more then likely go bad after this long even if refrigerated. Which would make it impossible to do what the L'EQUIPE claims happened.
2) Have they read his book? I sure did, cover to cover and more then once, he had an awesome record as a youth. He placed 5th or so (I believe) in a triathlon when he was just a teen. This victory was against people twice his age, this showed that he was very good and had the determination to do what he does best. Also, like most other athletes, they IMPROVE with age. Even though he had cancer, people fail to realize that mental determination can take someone to the top.
3) EPO would after a while "go away", causing him to go back to his pre-EPO level. If it works the same way as other drugs he would go LOWER then pre-EPO status.
3b) from said effect he would have to continue to take EPO to keep his RBC (Red-Blood Cell) level up, this would increase the depth of marks on his arms and he would get caught.
4) In his Last Tour he was given a drug test towards the end of the a near-the-end stage in said Tour. At this time he was, naturally, in the lead. In order to maintain such an awesome lead he would have needed to take EPO to keep up. This would have been tested positive in the test he was given and he would have been stripped of his title.
5) The tabloid also did not provide sample 'B'. If they did they KNOW that they would be wrong and the controversy would end. If the drug testing company was to keep sample 'A' surely they would keep 'B' to backup any claims made using sample 'B'.
6) Trek, AMD, USPS, Discovery and all the other Partners that supported Armstrong and his team would have had drug tests performed on Armstrong just to make sure they are not supporting a 'faker'.
7) Sense he broke up with his wife she would have surely said something to the media, not because he was abusive or anything (they broke up due to his training routine, they could not spend needed time togeather) but, just because if he was a fake he surely would have told her so. She could have even helped him if these false claims are true.
8) It also leaves untouched the central argument that his defenders have been making for years _ namely that Armstrong has been the most frequently tested athlete in the world and has yet to come back with a positive, confirmed result even once.
The L'EQUIPE accused him, they say he is/was taking EPO which is a drug that makes your body make more red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to your muscles, they also carry carbon-dioxide back to your lungs which you exhale.
Please comment on this, I would like to hear others opinions.

they had a thing on him on the discovery channel. the reason he is supposedly good because he has a larger than normal size heart.

He also generates more Volts (amount of umph it takes to make the pedals go round) and he uses his lungs better then 90% of the others. When I find the passage in the book about this I will quote it.

It all comes down to jealousy, they cannot believe he did 7 times, which is the most phenomal athletic feat ever. Let the man have his due. Look at what their French judge did at the Olympics with the figure skaters. I guess they feel they have to get back there integrity and condemn someone else for that fiasco.

Yes, it just seems that as we get more scientific now a days everyone assumes someone with raw talent does not exist anymore.
However, they do as Armstrong has demonstrated, he is the real thing not some fake, drug-taking looser that L'EQUIPE thinks he is.

Richard Virenque did not help matters a few years back. It is a favourite pastime of the tabloids to build someone up, only to stitch them up later on in life.
I cannot understand why Armstrong dignifies these boneheads with a response. as far as i am concerned he won them all fair & square. As did Indurain & Lemond.

I am so glad to see people talking about this here on aD.beyond my love for computer. I am a avid cyclist 250 miles a week on average.I love the sport and i think this is all a crock of shit.Did you know the tabloid company that puts this out has a sister company that organizes the tour de france (a race that an american has won the last 7 times) of course the chairman of the tour is going to agree that Lance was using EPO look at all the papers they will sell and where are all the names of the other cyclist that were claimed to be dirty and nobody has mentioned those cyclist which i have heard rumors some of these guys won medals in the olympics which in fact the same doping task force(wada) is used for the tour de france and the olympics hell, it was designed for and by the olympic council. VIVA la France freckin bastards nothing changes weren't this the same mother f*#kers that helped the nazis in world war II while they fronted to the alises we have the french resistance or the pepole that beg us to start importing thier wine again because it was killing the economy there because we stopped importing it because they would not help on the war against terrorist.the USA cycling commision just released news that they are backing lance 100% on the this and will help him in anyway they can.I hope a french man will never win the tour de france again and they all burn in hell.i dont think the world will miss the french freakin wine drinking cheese sniffing nose in the air. there is some many things wrong with this wada breaking rules the tour commission letting a tabloid newspaper perswaded them all to make a buck and to let them govern pro cycling oh well just my thoughts

To be devil's advocate, aren't the drug testers always one step behind? Could he not be taking FPO?
The reason for all the negative press relating to armstrong and not other athletes in different sports is because of the bad reputation cycling has gotten. For example, all the "heroes" of irish cycling were guilty at one stage or another of taking "supplements"...
On top of the bad rep. of cycling, his story is almost - fairytalesque to say the least, which makes the sceptics more sceptical and those who sit on the fence more inclined to say he was cheating.
Reading point 7, i think the woman was left totally in the dark, as she hasn't said "aye" or "nay" regarding Lance's suppplement usage.
Honestly, i'm not sure where i stand with this. A part of me wants to believe he is legit but the other is suspicious...I think it would be determental for cycling if he was found out, in any case. Yes, the witchhunt is OTT.

In addition to his heart and lungs, his thighs are longer than most which helps with up-hill climbs...
Maybe he's just an incredibly talented freak...

I agree with hogan I wish he would come out of retirerment and just go kick the living crap out of them again, but we forget its not just french pussies in this race this race its global pepole from all sorts of countries race.Here is a thought Lance had months of facing death laying in that bed if you could just imagine what he went throght sure some of us have had near death experences what every they maybe but most of them where probably split seconds and some may have been but think what a person dying in the hospital goes through why in the world would you decided hey lets put myself back in that boat i liked that it was great. I dont see lance wanting to damage his body in such a way to seat in that boat again. If you cant tell this really pisses me off it almost brings tears to my eyes he has never used any form of inhancing drugs so thier is no proof the french just cant deal with defeat they are to conceded we should of let the germany take there piece of crap country.it is amazing the the hatered they have against lance it is so sad here is a guy who fought back from cancer won the tour 7 times has helped cancer patients in so many with his fondation and just being a great insperation. He is also on the presidents cancer panel and just asked the president for a billion dollars in funds for cancer research which we really need if you lok at the stats 1 in 3 males 1 in 2 female will get cancer of some kind SCARY!!!! Now im sure althought I question the president some times i dont think he wants a member that has used EPO on his panel.I know lance probably doesnt support violence but if i ever saw anybody involved in the scandel i promise i would bet them down, It is just not fair to kick a great person with such lies. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU LANCE ANY DAY ANY TIME I got your back brother. maybe we shold invaded france and it could be are new Quantanamo bay we can hold all the terrorist thier should be easy the french wont fight. they just like to seat back and point the finger F@*k the pussies french keep your wine and chesse!!!

What a rant. Well now that americo-franco relations are at an all time low (well nearly , after the war and all that...), lets start a thread saying:
how much we all hate the french,
how their contributions to civilisation have been useless,
that we should boycott all their products,
how they are all terrible people (orphans and disabled people too) and that there should be a french genocide.

I think it would be fair to say that American-world relations are at an all time low. All they want to do is influence the way the world is run. "If it aint American, it can never work" is how most people perceive the Americans' attitude to life.
The UK has its' fair share of problems, but I prefer to live in a country where I can question policies without being made to feel anti-British. The Brits have a habit of taking the mickey out of themselves, something the Americans SEEM to be very uncomfortable with!
