I recently (about four months ago) traded in my old, big PS2, for a new slim one. Only now do I find out about the limitless possibilities that exist with the earlier, larger ps2. Can anyone give me a recommendation on whether I should sell my brand new one and buy an older one, or try some of the newer methods for modifying my current Ps2. The ability that I am most interested in, is the playing of ps2 backups off of a hard drive using the hd advance program. And if I should buy an old Ps2, which version is best for what I want to do?
any help is greatly appreciated.
I don't see what the big deal is with the slim ones. They seem like way too much trouble, with the top-loading and whatnot. I'd go with the older model no matter what, even without all the modding possibilities.
Thanks... but do you know which version is best for what I want to do? I've been reading around, and found that different versions act different ways, and I don't have enough experience to know...
thanks.
I hope you guys kno that when PS2(original) came out.. its not as strong as the PS2(original) you see today. The PS2(original) are way stronger now.. and the PS2(slim) as well. You said you were intrested in backing up games on your PS2 HD but you can't do it on the PS2(Slim) that i kno of because you can't add a HD to the PS2(Slim). I never really tried or wanted to back up my PS2(original) and i always wanted to get a PS2(slim). So you kno im just going to go with the PS2(slim). You can do what you like and what fits you. Im just giving you some background info.
from what i understand. the first line of slims were rushed and are dropping like flies. the ones now are better b/c they are not rushed.
i would suggest from a v5-v11. any of them you should be good to go for what you want to do. buy a good chip(dms series, matrix infinity) or a soft mod. from a hd.
i suppost ebay is the way to go but be careful. there is some pretty good junk on there which you already know.
You actually can back up Ps2 games onto a hard drive on the slim version, using a program called usb extreme, and an external, usb hard drive. the only problem is that slim doesn't use usb 2.0, so the load times are very long, even possibly longer than using an actual disk, which is one advantage that you get with the hard drive directly connected to the ps2... faster load times. So I guess I should just get the latest version of the old Ps2 if that's what I want to do.
thanks...
