I've heard a rumor around that if you install a hard drive in the playstation 2 that's over 120 Gb, it will overheat after awhile... does anyone know exactly how true this is? If it is true, is there any way to counter this problem?

Hey,

There is some truth too it, i have a very very bad habit of leaving my Ps2 running and sitting at my PC for hours at a time but when i go back to the Ps2 it will stall of a sec but that's not due to overheating that just the hdd finding the point to carry on with the game, kinda like a dvd in a dvd rom if you pause it the rom has to find the point to carry on. I have had my 160gb (seagate)hdd for 5 months or so and it's never overheated, the only way to counter the heat is if you have a cold room or a fan sitting next to the Ps2 but there should not be any problems as long as it's not left on for a very long time.
