Ok, I've tried Sony Mini DVD+RWs, Great Quality DVD+Rs, and TDK DVD+Rs, and NONE of them want to work. I've tried adjusting my laser; it's at 170 ohms now, I've been through about 10 dvds now. Before I adjusted my laser, the gamecube wouldn't even recognize there was media in the drive. Now that I have, I get a Disk Read Error after a while in DVD mode A, almost immediately in DVD mode B (or maybe the other way around >_>;;). I'm running out of money, time, and patience. Maybe those who have had to adjust their lasers could give me any experience they've had? I'm also willing to try anything else others have found to work.

did u self install the chip yourself? If so go to a professional and get it checked. Happened to me some japanese guy fixed it for 30 bucks.

Did he say what was wrong with it? I'm pretty sure I did a good job... everything else works ok, and it will boot Japanese region games fine, but I'll double check my stuff just in case. What kind of place did you take it to?

A Japanese Gaming store in a chinese mall. SMELLED LIKE SH*T HAHA. Anyways sometimes the wiring needed to be insulated with electrical tape. As for your dvd's sometimes it may just be the burning or burnign software. Are you finalizing the disks? The exact image size has to 1,459,978,240. No more no less.

are you sure the content on the disk is workin? try loading by different methods.

I've been using Nero and I've looked for a 'finalize' checkbox, but I can't seem to find one >_>

I've also tried Alcohol 120%, but it doesn't want to burn the GC ISOs. I select the ISO, and it will say 'initializing device' or something similar and then just sit there. It won't freeze, it won't start, it just sits there telling me that there's a blank disc in the drive. YES I KNOW THERE'S A BLANK DISC IN THE DRIVE. I PUT IT THERE. NOW BURN THE DATA ON THE DISC. But noooo it just sits there with the 'time elapsed' counting up. Lame. >_<
Recently I've been able to get the qoob to recognize that there's a burned DVD with gamecube data on it, as sometimes it will try to start, and other times I can look in the menu, go to boot, and see the name of the game on the disc in the boot menu, but when I boot it, or when it boots automatically, the qoob bios acts like it's going to start, but then freezes, with the disc spinning forever. Blargh.
Edit: And I still can't find that 'finalize' option in Nero >_>
Edit Edit: Alcohol will work with any other backup than GC. I just burned a PS2 backup using it, but as soon as I try to burn the GC backups, it stops working.

OK! First what version of Nero do you have? Second is the memory of the ISO file 1,459,978,240 ? If it isn't go use FSTFIX. Then when you open Nero, (should be the same for all the versions I assume) a wizard should pop up asking you what to do. Press cancle. Then make sure your drive is set to the dvd burner. Pop in the recordable DVD+R, DVD-R, or mini. Next goto file, open, and look for the ISO image. When you find it, open it and it will give you the option to finalize the disk at the same screen as the burning speed, I prefer 4x, 8x is to fast and 2x is to slow but you can pick. Thats atleast how I do it. I'm also using Nero 6.0 if that helps. Use any P2P software and you can find it.

I'm using Nero 6.0.16, and the size of the ISO is exactly 1,459,978,240 bytes. I open Nero, A thing pops up asking me to browse for a compilation. I click cancel... and then there's no file to go to >_>

Ok I got the Nero problem fixed. Turns out the key I was using wasn't unlocking the full version. I had to reinstall with a different key. I burned again with 'finalize disc' checked, but my gamecube still won't play the backups. X(

Perhaps your modchip isnt working right. If you have a friend with the chip installed and his plays backups test it there. If they game works you need to redo the chip. If it doesnt then the ISO may be corrupt or the burn was a failier.
