I got my ps2 chipped by a store, i have no idea what modchip it is (says "infinity v1.38 at startup") but i burnt GTA:VC on a DVD+R and firstly it worked. Then i reset the game, ejected the disc tray and let it go through to the browser section where i closed the tray. To my surprise it went to the red screen "wrong format" crap. I keep trying but i cant get it to work at all anymore. Anyone have a clue as to whats going on?

Not without knowing what chip you have.
It could be Matrix Infinity, if your lucky
Or a Matrix Infinty Clone, if your not.
You should never let people install chips into your PS2
without first finding out what kind it is or they may
sell you some cheap crap for top shelf prices.

So now even after you shut it off, turn it back on
and stick in a game you get the red screen?
Did you eject the disc while the game was still playing
or press the reset button first?
Have you tried putting in a game and pressing the reset
button about 3 times fast in a row?

Just in case it is a Matrix Infinity, here are all the boot option
you can play around and see if any of them will get it
working again.

Boot of PS2- PS1- DVD Movies:
Simply insert the Back-Up copy of your original game inside the PS2.
The infinity will recognize the kind of disk you inserted and select the appropriate boot system.

Turning Off the Infinity:
Press start from Joypad 1 until the writing "DISABLED" will appear on screen. The infinity is now disabled until PS2 turned off to Standby Position.

Fast Boot of PS2 Games:
Press select from Joypad 1.
PS2 Logo will be skipped and game will boot directly.

Launching Memory card applications:
Press Triangle from Joypad 1.

Forcing PS1/DVD mode:
Press the circle from Joypad 1.
(We placed this option just in case someone need to force the PS2 to boot in PS1/DVD mode).
