is it possible to play modded maps on halo 2 while being online, as ive created a cool map that i want to play with my friends but im not sure how.

yes it is possible, but not with xbox live. you need either xlink or xbconnect to do this. They both utilize system link option on the game to enable you to play online, but the best part of it is that it is free. look it up.
