I know you need a program like Nero to burn with DVD Shrink, but is there any other programs besides Nero that will work? I'm having recurring problems again on a fresh windows install, trying to figure it out.
to jaehomo. this is how things go: shrink to read and compress and decrypter to burn. if shrink can't handle a movie then: decrypter to hard drive, shrink to compress and again decrypter to burn.
then why is it if I uninstall Nero, Shrink will tell me it can't do anything without the Nero plugin. Also, I've burned many a DVD using only Shrink with Nero installed in the background, and Decrypter not even installed yet. I thought it was Shrink that encoded and sized the movie, and Nero that burned it, while Decrypter was an optional encoder for the more tricky movies. Hmm....
Decrypter rips and burns but does not encode. Shrink encodes but does not burn. You have the option in Shrink to use Decrypter to burn, just go into your settings and disable Nero. Then when you go and hit the backup button for your movie choose iso file burn with Decrypter. Here are guides showing programs and settings.

Shrink can burn with 3 prorgams, Nero, CopyToDVD or Decrypter. If you don't have any of these installed Shrink can only create an ISO or dvd files, can't burn.
Decrypter is not an encoder. It can rip, burn ISOs. Shrink has trouble ripping dvds with new copy protections. On those discs use Decrypter to rip as it can currently rip and dvd, then compress with Shrink.
