I got a DRE only on dvd based games or movies. The CD games worked well. since i can not boot up dvd games i am thinking of using a hard disk drive to boot up games via a CD. Which is better? HDA or HDL? Are both HDA or HDL comes as a CD or DVD? Can i upload the dvd games via computer then plug the hard drive to ps2?

yes, i tried to fix it by cleaning the lens and adjusting the lens height. I will not mess with the voltage, since i have no clue on electrcity. buying a new lens is not an option ($$$$$$).

You can upload games using the P.C. For the life of me I cant remember what prog you need.,
However, if you have laser problems, you will have trouble loading the DVD disc of HD advance which would provide the interface for booting the PS2 and playing the games on the HDD.
Hd loader can be downloaded and burnt , but you will need to be able to boot it.
The other avenue to investigate is to use a memory card exploit which I believe boots from a PS1 game. Do some searching.

P.S. Can't you get a new laser assembly off the net?????
