I know this has been discussed a lot, and there's tons of FAQ's around the new on how to repair it... but these all pertain to the OLD ps2 systems. I've got the system taken apart and can't find anything to adjust the angle of the CD holder, or the height of the lense...

Any help on how to adjust these on the NEW ps2's would be greatly appriciated. Oh and I've tried cleaning it out with compressed air and all that jazz... no go =(

Thanks for your help!

I can't find any repair guide either threw google for the slimline. Your best bet is to look at the old ps2 and see if the laser adjustment is setup the same.

Older PS2 version way: googled

(You want to open up the disc drive first. There will be 1 (or 2 depending on version) white gears in the back of the drive, you can use a 1/8 allen wrench to turn these gears (a few clicks at a time) if that doesn't work, and you feel daring, you can try adjusting the laser pots on the bottom of the laser. It can be complicated if you have no clue what to do.)

download the old ps2 repair guide for reference

there is no laser height adjustment for the v12's. plus the lasers in them are bad. that is why the slims need a laser fix when getting a mod and the older ones don't.

you can adjust the laser pots that are on the bottom of the laser like the older ones. would only do this if you know how. and clean the laser. but no adjustments on the slims.

are you sure its a laser problem? does the browser come up and you can read the mem card. and have you tried all the games. dvd rom, cd rom, ps1 games, dvd movies.

oh, there's the problem, you let your girlfriend touch it. lol.
just kidding man, relax.

i would try, another laser if you have one handy, or out of a friends ps2.

the problem w/ buying one right off, is that that could not be the problem.

don't know if the laser just dies like that, mine laser, only dvd's wouldn't play.

just occured to me, double check the ribbon cables in the ps2, especially the one going to the laser. if that is out, then no games would play.

plus, you said you cleaned it out, but did you clean the laser?

Did you have a laser fix installed? v12 PS2 has a systematic problem where the chip that controls the laser can crash, which causes the laser to burn up (called a 'mechacon crash'). This can potentially happen on any v12 PS2, modded or not, playing backups or originals. Take a look at the lens. If it looks charred, thats it.
