HI,
I am perplexed. Last night I finally tried out a movie i burned. I just kept the 5.1 DTS audio track and the subtitles. When it came time to watch on my TV, I couldn't hear any audio. The video was clear, the subtitles worked, but no sound. Did i do something wrong? When i shrink a movie, which audio track should i keep? Any help will greatly be appreciated. -Jen

Did the movie have a seperate Stereo audio track? Some stereo players will not play back 5.1 audio and will look for a stereo track. Also note that even if the player does play back 5.1 audio, there may not actually be any audio on the two tracks that go to your TV (some players will just send two tracks and not mix down)

If your dvd player is not DTS compatible, then you will get no sound. DTS sound is fabulous ... suggest you upgrade to a player and amp/reciever/speaker setup that is DTS compatible.

if you are trying to hear the movie out of your little tv speakers instead of 5.1 surround sound speakers, then tonsofpcs' answer applies ie choose a dolby sound track to backup. Then, in your dvd player's settings, choose "downmix to two channels". then, assuming your sound cables to the TV are hooked up, you will get sound.

Also, while the movie is playing, hit the "Audio" button on the DVD players remote to switch between audio streams on the DVD.

If that still gets you no sound, then as previously stated, your "Amp" or "Surround Sound" does not support (is not capable) of playing official "DTS" audio.

This thread may shed some more insight on the difference between the 2 and what you want/need. - http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45190
