HD Loader 7c Problem

I just downloaded Fully Patched NTSC HDL ISO v7c.
1. Use Alcohol 120% to create the DVD (Used Image Wizard)
2. Booted my PS2 w/ Original SM v2.0 DVD
3. When prompted, swapped the SM DVD with the HDL DVD and clicked "x"
4. The screen goes blank
What gives? Any help appreciated.

All I want to be able to do is format my PS2 hard drive and load my games to it - s that too much to ask? :)

Seriously, I have been working on this all day with no success and multiple coasters - I honestly do not beleive the media is the issue. The same media is what I use for my backups and they play fine in my PS2.

PLEASE HELP!

That iso image didn't work for me either, actually. Try this. Get this zip file:

http://www.mikestyle.com/tutorials/exploit.zip

Then follow these directions:

Open the zip file and unzip the folder to your desktop or wherever. Now copy your hdloader .7c ELF file (get it from exploitstation) into the folder you just created. Delete the existing EXPINST.ELF and rename your hdloader .7c ELF to EXPINST.ELF (capitalization is important). Now follow Step 5 on this link:

You don't really need the title.db or FILES folder so its ok to leave them out, but make sure you put the dummy file in and fix the LBA. That disc should work.
