I have backed-up many DVD's inmy day but recently I've come across many errors reguardless what program I use the most recent games I've tried to back up are NCAA 2006, Madden 2006, and Incredible Hulk Ultimate Distruction. I always used Nero for years nothing changed as far as I knew. But when these three games came out for some reason Nero started say Burn Failed : Illegal Disk. So I tried using Two other programs CloneCD and DVD Decypter. None of these seem to want to burn these games. The Error I was given from DVD Decrypter was

I/O Error
Device: [3:0:0]_NEC_DVD_RW-1300A 1.07 (D:) (ATA)

SCSI Status: 0X02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 53 00 00 00 00 00 1E DF A000
Interpretation: Reserve track - Sectors: 2,023,328

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 30 05 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

Failed to Reserve Track

Now I'm not the most familiar with CloneCD or DVD Decrypter. I have A NEC DVD burner, I may be using crappy media but I just need it to copy to any media at all instead of giving me errors. To my knowledge nothing has changed on my Nero Settings. I have no clue what's wrong I've tried other programs nothing is working. As for the other two programs I tried them but wasn't sure exactly what any setting should be because I am not familiar with them. Are any of these games protected or have some kind of new no-copy system on them because I hardly ever ran into these kind of problems, until recently. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

From what i read there it sounds like the NEC burner
doesn't like that media.
"Interpretation: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format "
I know my friend backed up the Hulk game with
no problems using DVD Decrypter.
Have you burned any successful games on that media?
What brand and speed is it?

I have a NEC Burner and I burned the new Hulk Game no problems

My DVD Burner is a DL DVD RW ND 3500 AG

No problems ... Like said in the other post could just be the media..

and if it is the media it's not that easy of a solution and your backups won't last long anyhow

The original media I used was Teon DVD-R 8x the new media I bought today and tried using is Fujifilm DVD-R 8x which also came up with a error when using Nero the error was "Nero Error could not perform start of disc-at-once Illegal Disc". So any suggestions on that? Or do I still need another type of media and if so What type's are good? Thanks.

Actually I got the same exact message for both, when using DVD Decrypter. So I also reburned the ISO file and tried again but still had the same error as I did before. So all three programs still don't work. Should I change any of the settings for DVD Decrypter or Nero? I left them at default. Nero's Error comes us with Start of Disc at once could not perform. And DVD Decrypter comes up with the original message in the first post. Cloncd comes up with something similar to illegal disk.

only other thing I can think of is try updating the firmware

in DVD Decrypter go to tools then drive then check for firmware updates

install the current ver of firmware
restart your machine and see if that fixes it...

Ok well after updating my firmware it burned the DVD of Hulk Ultimate Destruction but it will not load on my PS2 it says disc read error when I check my browser. It doesn't attempt to load the disk automatically. So now that's my new problem. But thanks for all the help so far. Any suggestions on what's wrong now? Thanks again.

Is your PS2 chiped or you using Swap Magic?

Did you burn it with NERO? Or Decrypter?

Which Medi and what speed did you burn it at?

The same thing happened to me today!
I burned a copy of Incredible Hulk using Nero and Maxell DVD-R (like I always do) a few days ago, and it worked perfect.

However, when I tried to burn a copy of World Series of Poker, those messages came up.
I figured I'd update my firmware and it would work fine, but after updating it, it still didn't work.

I've wasted 3 discs using Nero and DVD Decrypter trying to burn this game, and I was confused because it had never happened before, but I'm kinda glad to see I'm not the only one.
I don't think it's a problem with the file or the burner, because I later burned an audio CD which works fine, and I burned the Poker ISO onto a Maxell DVD+R, which probably won't play in my PS2, but also did not fail or have any messages.

Anyone else have any success in figuring out what the problem is?
