Are you just trying to burn the files from your hard drive to a CD or DVD? or are you trying to make a DVD or CD that will play in any stand alone DVD player?

as far as i know, WMP does not burn, do you have any burning programs, such as nero, roxio.... there are tons of free ware programs out there. secondly, what types of files are they that you are trying to burn?
most of all members in here use one of these, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, nero (the above mentioned, decode a copywright protected dvd, shrink compresses the video, and burns with nero) but there are many to choose from... try this link for some freeware apps.

I have just installed Nero and it doesn't allow me to burn from my hard drive to my dvd. I'm just trying to burn a simple music video, and it basically says my media is not of the proper type......I've tried Memorex DVD+RW, Memorex DVD+R, and also ilo DVD-R and still have reached the same outcome. Thanks alot for the speedy reply, and any future assistance will be appreciated.......
well, you will get lots of flack for this one, but stay away from the memorex first of all........ just plain bad media
secondly, what are your steps in Nero (how are you doing it?)
thirdly, i am not familiar with the downloaded version of Nero, as i have the full version, but for starters, open Nero, go to VE3 (mine is updated to VE3), select dvd or cd for what you are doing, click, make dvd or cd video from files, add your files, and you shoud be set, follow the on screen instructions, and you should have what you are looking for.
