Hi,
I was looking for an answer in this forum, but I couldn't find one.
Here is my question:
I bought my PS2in Germany and I used Swap Magic 3 (Version 3.3) to play my back up games there. It always worked out great.
Now in the US trying the same thing, it is not working, the picture on the screen is just flickering.
A friend told me that the problem might be that my swap magic cds are PAL Built, and that they won't work in the US.
My question is: if I buy an other version of swap magic cds, will it work then or is there a general problem with german Ps2s in the US?
Suprisingly I can watch movies on the PS2 without a problem.
Thanx for you help

If you got another copy of Swap Magic it would be NTSC so it would not work on a PAL Ps2.

Even though your in the US your Swap Magic should still work since your still using a PAL Ps2. Can you still Play normal PAL games (not backups)?

unfortunately I only have backups with me.
But in Germany most of the Backups I played were NTSC, so with my PAL Built Swap Magic Disk I was able to play PAL Backups as well as NTSC Backups, on a German television.
My question is wheter the playstation itself needs to be of a certain kind, in order to work on an US television. Because if this is the case it would not make any sence for me to buy an NTSC Swap Magic Disc.

The only difference i can see is a TV in the US is NTSC & a German TV is PAL, the Ps2 does not have to be a certain model all you need to play a PAL Ps2 in the US is a power converter and some method of booting games, i would not order a NTSC version of swap magic due to it being a PAL Ps2, it won't work. Could it be your TV does not support PAL?
