I recently downloaded American Pie The wedding (AVI 700MB) to my hd with LimeWire. I have tied to use Shrink but when I use "open files" to where file is located I get error message saying "DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to open file : D/documents and setting/my documents/myvideo/video_ts.ifo." I have also tried to use Nero 6 burning Rom Se to burn it to Dvd, but got error message saying that nero 6 only supports sony recorders only. I also tried Dvd dycryter, but could not find browser. Am I going about this all wrong? I just want to burn the Movie to dvd with my pioneer dvdrw dvr104. Any help would be appriciated.

ohcowboy ,
Welcome to the forum. You need to convert those files to mpeg-2 DVD-compliant files . Below is the guide and the instructions w/ all programs you will need. After conversion then you use DVDShrink to compress if needed

A alternative/another method is below:

1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - You can use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this.

2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish).

**If the combined file size of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink to compress it down to fit on your recordable media.

If your operating system (O/S) is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use Nero to burn in "DVD-Video" mode - Tutorial Located here on how to do this: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=221453#p...

Thankyou both for the replies. I tried to convert the file with "DVIX to DVD". The resulting copy lacked menues and also gave me a nice burned in title on the upper part of of the picture saying something about Dvix to dvd. I will try the TMPGEncPlus to see if I can get menues and no burned in titles . I am going to Florida this week for vacation and will be returning Friday, so I will be unable to try the conversion till then. Thanks for the help. I'll take to u soon.
