DVD+R media on V4 PS2?

Has anybody had any luck having their V4 media read any DVD+R media.
I once used HP dvds that worked 1/10 times but i've tried maxell and memorex and neither of them work in my ps2. (i burned at 2.4x)
Right now im using DVD-R that my friend has burned for me and they wrk %100

This may be the quality of my laser, but if anyones been able to do it would help.

I've burned a copy of GoW with Verbatim 4x DVD+R and gave it to my friend who has a v4. At first he couldn't get it to play but after he did an adjustment to the white cog wheel, it plays flawlessly.

I have a V4 and i recently had a problem with a dvd+r back-up, i reburned to a dvd-r and it played fine. But that is the only time i've had a problem with dvd+r's.

tot: could you be more specific about that white cog wheel thing?

EDIT: nevermind tot, i did a search and found what i needed. :)
