I was able to copy a DVD I wasn't able to before installing DVD43. But it sure slowed the copy process down. My 16x burner now runs slower than my old 2x burner. And even when I removed DVD43 they still run slow. I tried looking in the registry for remnants, but found none. I'm using DVDxCOPY Platinum and DVD shrink. Any suggestions?

Check your DMA settings - How ? do this -> Go to Control Panel> System> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Right Click Primary IDE channel (and Secondary IDE channel after you finish with Primary)> Properties> Advanced Settings Tab> Transfer Mode or go here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

Do the above from both "Primary & Secondary IDE channels".

I (We) and you need to look at whats in both "Transfer Mode" and "Current Transfer Mode". Screen shot below is what I'm talking about.

If it is in "PIO" mode. Click the "Driver" tab, and uninstall the driver. Then reboot. Upon rebooting windows will automatically reinstall the driver and it should go back to "DMA" mode.

Thank-you sooo much! I would have never thought to look there. How did you know?

If I was to use DVD43 again would it do the same thing?

You're very welcome! Glad I could help. :)

I just knew to look there from previous experience in helping people like you with the same problem.

DVD43 did not cause the problem. The reason your computer goes from DMA mode to PIO mode is cause of the drive trying to read damaged (dirty and/or scratched) disc's. Every time your computer (drive) encounters a error (dirty or scratched disc), your computer steps itself down 1 mode (DMA 5, to DMA 4 to DMA 3....), until eventually it bottoms out at PIO mode.
