Sanyo DRW 1000 - Grabbing an un-finalized discs files help.

A friend has transfered some old VHS film onto DVD for me using a Sanyo DRW 1000 (http://www.sanyo.com/entertainment/dvd_recorders/index.cfm?produc...)

Unfortunately it won't play in either of my DVD standalones and when I try to view the files in windows it just says "unknown file format"

I've just read through the online instruction manual and I'm guessing he hasn't finalized the disc. I've just spent over 2 hours searching the internet to see if anyone else has had the same experience and found a way to view and grab the video for re-burning... but no luck

It would be a great help if someone here knew of a way. My friend is in the US and I'm UK. He's very busy and I feel cheeky asking him to re do it when it's took him over 2 months to do this one :D :(
