I'm looking for some help with Nero please. I got it 3 weeks ago for the DVD burning aspect. In the first 2 weeks, I composed about 8 DVDs with no problems. I'm making Video DVDs of my favorite artists. They play perfectly on my DVD player and TV. Then everything fell apart. Nero won't work anymore. I've tried everything I can think of and still can't make another Video DVD. No matter which method I use, Nero will freeze up between the 4th and 5th transcoding stream process. Be it using disc at once, be it using the check speed test method, or even saving project to my hard drive for burning later. Nero tells me it's a burner problem. But the last method mentioned you don't even put a disc in the burner. Also the second method, it never gets to the burner. I've even tried in selective startup with everything shut down. Nothing seems to help. I have no other burning programs on my pc. I'm at my wits end and would appreciate if anybody has any suggestions I might try.

You name it, I've done it. Uninstalled and reinstalled over 5 times. Gone back to the original program on the CD. Tried with and without their latest major update. After this transconding stream appears to stop, Nero will feeze up and I can only get out by Contol/Alt/Delete. For the heck of it I made a data DVD and that burned just fine, even completed. But at the end could only close Nero with Control/Alt/Delete. I'll enclose a log file here and the last entry or last burn was done in the disc at once format. One or two before it were done to hard drive file only.

"edited!"

I've done many of these files in the past, but loose them on my uninstall/reinstall processes. I've never used their removal tool but I have used my Norton System Check program to make sure everything is gone including the registry entries.

Yes, very short cause I've uninst/reins so many times. Sorry, didn't know I had to edit all the way through. Will check that next time.

More info, just tried another burn to file. The project has 12 video, much under the DVD will take. I've burned with 23 before. The first step is creating menus and transconding streams. The first 4 start one after the other in good time. I can watch the progress of the screen. after the 4th one is at the end of transconding, it never gets to the 5th. one. It seems Nero freezes but doesn't seem to know it has. I was doing this to get another entry in the log. I wait a while and the Nero clock just ticks away as if it were working and completeing, but it never does. I click abort, the notice do you want to abort comes on, I click yes, and Nero just sits there with it's clock still running. I can't close the screen (x is greyed out) and the only alternative is to cont/alt/del. I was doing again to get it in the log, but after checking the new log history file, nothing has been added. So, it seems Nero isn't recording these attemps when it thinks it's still running, the control/alt/delete seems to stop that from occuring. The files are good, I've changed the lineup many times from different files in different positions, I've taken files out from the original 16, I've also got another group to burn and the same occurs with that group. I've also burned one to Video CD and that burned fine with the same files. My problem seems to be with Nero and only seems to occur with the transcoding protion. If I burn at once, the first 3 files will transcode, burn, and after the forth file transcodes, then nothing, the big freeze, it never gets to burn the forth file. So I believe the log is not showing my real problem. On it are different attempts that are really unrelated to what I'm seeing. Don't have any idea what to try next??

Since I'm not getting any responses or suggestions, I would like to ask another question. What in anybody's opinion was the best version of Nero ever made? I'm thinking of maybe rolling back to an earlier version and see if I bet better results??
