i recently discovered swap magic to be the possible solution to my problem of not being able to play ntsc games on my pal ps. I dismantled my ps to remove all covers etc. in order to use the slide card, set everything up all i needed was swap magic. I downloaded v. 3.3, I do not know wether it is a freeware or not, but anyhow i burned the dvd version on a cd-r, was ready and set to start but nothing will work. Then i thought to myself, might it be that ps2 cannot read cd-r's therefore a burned copy of swap magic won't work?Is it so? What is best then, mod chip or bootable disc?

You have to buy swap magic. You can't run burned copies of swap magic. The reason swap magic works is because it was pressed from a real master DVD, the way real PS2 games are. Because it was done like this, there is a Burst Cutting Area present near the center of the disc, which is what the PS2 checks for the verify if the the disc is legit or not.

So uh, just pony up the 20 bucks to get a SM. They work great.

devillion is right you have to buy it you cant just burn it. you either have to buy and insatll a mod chip or buy swap magic. I went to this site and got a fliptop and swap magic as a pack for like $35

you can get the pal version or NTSC version for around $25

I used the place of the link below and got it in 2 days very reliable.
