I have recenly purchased an AVerMedia DVB-T USB2.0 unit and a sony Q28A DVD burner so I could record TV programs on to DVD. The AVerMedia unit says that it "records MPEG-2 files ready to burn onto DVD". The problem is than when I try to burn the files as a playable DVD with Nero VisionExpress it says it's "transcoding" and takes about 6 hours for a film. I was under the impression that DVD's used MPEG2 so what is Nero converting my file into and how can I make the process faster?

Your Answer to this Question is "Nero Vision Express SUCKS".....

Nero Vision Express has a Nasty Habbit of re-encodeing allready DVD Compliant Files which Not only wastes a Bunch of Time but Degrades the Quality of the Video....

If these Files are allready DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 files then all you need is a Proper DVD authoring Program Like "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" or even "Tmpgenc DVD author" which will allow you to add Chapters and Menu"s to your DVD without re-encodeing and Ruining the Quality and wasteing Time encodeing.....

So I suggest you Drop Vision Express and get a Real Proper DVD authoring Program.....

Cheers

I can't get anything to work right. I have a 800mb mpeg file I want to burn to a DVD. When I try to open it in TMPG DVD, it says, "The video GOP is too long, Dvd video standard requires the GOP is stuctured as below.

This happens for any mpeg files I've tried to use in this progra. Help! What else can I try? I've tried windvd creator and it crashes, TMPG isn't working for me.

All I want to do is take raw AVI or mpg's and make them play in a home dvd. Please give me other options.
