What's the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R while PS2 burning?

What's the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R while PS2 burning? I mean....throughout this forum i constantly see that DVD-R medias are recommended when copying a PS2 backup. The question is: WHY? Does that mean that DVD+R media won't work? Also, would these newer medias which are both DVD+R and DVD-R be able to burn properly?

It doesnt matter what type you use.
I find that my PS2 plays DVD+R's better than DVD-R's but some people are completely oposite.
If you ever have a game that loads really slow try switching to the other type of disk.

If your PS2 is V4 or above either should work.
I use -R myself, but that is only because when i first
started out that is what a friend suggested i use.
Since it worked great i never switched
But i do all my movies on +R

I have a V12 PS2 and I find that mostly DVD-R work the best but on a few games, like FFX2, the game was "jumpy" so I just burned it to a DVD+R set it as a DVD-ROM and it works great now. But for the most part DVD-R's work great.
