Is it safe to manually stop games from spinning with the Fip Top open?

Sorry for the bad topic, I wanted to edit the original post with a more important question. Can I still load regular, non burned, US PS2 games or DVDs into my PS2 by hitting the Eject button, even though I have a Flip Top installed? Or can I only load games by putting them in through the Flip Top? Thanks.

You can still hit eject and load games without using the fliptop.
