Can I still open the tray with the Eject button, even with a Flip Top installed?

I recently put a Flip Top on my PS2, which rendered all my Action Replay Max Media Discs useless, since you need to swap discs and the Flip Top doesn't stop the disc from spinning.

Anyways, I tried just hitting the Eject button to open the tray, and it opened, but I heard a rubbing type sound when doing this. If I have a Flip Top on my PS2, is it still safe for me to load games and DVD's into the PS2 the normal way, by hitting the Eject button, loading the game into the tray, then hitting Eject again? I really don't wanna damage my PS2.

if you installed the flip top right then there
should be no problem. The drawer will work the same
as it did before you installed the flip top

To use your cheat disc you may need to go one step further.
