getting ps2 copy disks to start on my ps2

i have just copied vice city (PS2) onto a dvd+rw using dvd decoder and the operation was a success. i then put the copy in my ps2 and it didn't recognise the fact that there was a disk in it. what else do i need to make this thing work and where do i get it from.

ps2's will not play DVD+RW or DVD-RW, only DVD-R or DVD+R. You also need to have the ps2 modded to play backups. If you give us a little more info on what you HAVE got, we might be able to suggest something if you haven't got your ps2 modded yet.

all that i have @ the moment is the normal fat ps2, dvd+rw & CD-RW and the dvd decrypter program. what else do i need and how can i put it all together to make it all work.

What i am trying to do is to make a backup of "the sims". To test out the dvd decryptor i made a back up of vice city and that completed but didn't work on my ps2, i then tried to copy the sims game in the decryptor and it says "Disk not DVD" and i have tryed all the different modes on the program and nothing is picked up. The message still remains the same. Is there anything i can do with this as well.

Ok, first off you need to get either a modchip installed in your ps2, a fliptop case and swapmagic discs or a slidetool and swapmagic discs. Without these you can't play ANY backups.
Secondly, when using DVD Decrypter you have to set the mode to iso read... if it still doesn't come up with anything, then either you have a faulty disc or it's a cd game, DVD Decrypter won't do cd games. To copy cd games just use a normal cd copying program like Nero or something similar.
Also, you need to get some DVD-R discs to make your dvd backups, this is because DVD-R are most compatable with all the ps2 versions... get a good brand like verbatim, ritek or taiyo yuden discs.

But before you start trying to copy games, get the mod done to your ps2 and then read a lot of this forum.... it'll be very instructive and can save you having problems later and wasting discs unnecassarily.

To get the mod, do a search on google or whatever for ps2 modchip or swap magic 3.6... can't give you any more advice on that as I don't know which country you live in.
