No, this is not quite the same old question.

Is it possible to play a backup of this game without using the eject button?

The reason I need to do this and the reason I initially got a fliptop is that there is a tiny plastic piece of the guide track on my tray that is broken, and if I eject the tray it jams and I have to disassemble my PS2 to reset it.

I've copied other games and I use SM 3.3 on a v7 US ps2, so I know the basics. I tried DVD Rick's patch, and pressing X at the SM screen gets me to the red bad disc screen, booting with square just hangs at a black screen (and when I open the fliptop during the black screen, the laser just sits at the inside of the disc trying to read). This patch is not working with SM 3.3 alone.

Do I have to use DVD Loader for this, or is there a working patch? Should I use the instructions for the CD or DVD version of DVDLoader, and will it work using the fliptop rather than pressing the eject button (because I obviously can't do that)? Thanks

Yes, I KNOW how to use the search function and those instructions have not worked for me. This is why I'm asking for help.

I've tried DVDLoader and CDLoader. Some instructions say to burn DVDLoader to a CD. Is this what I need to do, because from my experience DVD images don't like to be written to CDs because they're a different media format. It seems like, even if it could be done like that, it would confuse the heck out of a drive's firmware to read DVD data from a CD media.

just get the cdloader and use your cd swap magic disc to boot it.burn cdloader to a cd.its basically the same as dvdloader.i think you use the "nopn 5v3" option or something like that.

Tried that, didn't work.

I finally got it to work with SM 3.3 dvd and DVD Loader, but I have to go through an extra round of swapping. Strange.
