With the ever growing number of spammers on afterdawn it?s getting a tad frustrating, is there some sort of way of setting up a user post edit button, for example say a post has the heading ?Free Ipod, look in here? rather than waiting for a mod to edit the post couldn?t a user do it? Now you might think what if another spammer edits it back to free ipods well couldn?t there be some sort privilege depending on the user?s title for example only addicts could use the button. I have no idea how hard it would be to set it up but I think it would be well worth it in the long run. I am only suggesting this purely because most of the mods have jobs/family and don?t have the time to patrol the forums every moment of everyday.

I understand what u mean... But all this is gonna do is just lower the access level to some features depending on the level of the persons membership...
I feel if a mod had an easier way of gettin rid of an post that is not right that would b good :)
Like a check box that gets ticked and then mods just press delete :)

Thanks for the replay :)
What do you mean "lower the access level to some features" all am talking about is giving certain members the power to get rid of spammers kinda like a mini mod that can only edit rather than close or ban.

I get what u mean but if admin allow that the flood gates will open and a whole can of worms will open up...
I mean then they can b accused of favoritisim and all that...
I think if some sort of automatic notifier can b made soo we all can get allerted when spammers are posting then it would make the job of mods and admins easier...
Or just make a mock section for advertising and then when every spammer posts there will just close it in there... and that way it will b organised and not soo all over the place...

I think the system we have right now is perfectly alright. I don't know about everyone else but I can wait for a mod to close a thread. Those type of threads don't bother me enough to actually think of having a faster way of reporting. Alotting different levels of power based on membership would just get out of hand and too opinionated like the ranking system.

It's not that the threads are bothering it's just a lot of people fall for things like "free ipods" even if there told it's a con and can't wait to sign up to get something for nothing although in the long run they do ending up paying something and end up regretting it, maybe the whole "special privilege" idea was a bit overboard but that was purely a idea to get the the upper hand on the spammers, could you imagine if all user had a post edit button for other post that ain't there own? there would be edit wars, i just said addicts because there surly more trustworthy.

I think people have enough common sense to avoid such ads but I do understand your point. All of the ipod offers are now trivial and people should know that they are a scam.

Are you telling me that those iPods are not free in those ads? <G>
I believe that the best education is one that is self taught, like putting your hand on a hot stove when your mother told you not to. Do it once and you will never forget. Besides, when they appear, there are enough members here that will douse them out with a click of the "Report" Icon!

Hey kinza, I see it says " Pakistan Zindabad" in you sig. I have two hunches of the meaning. Either that's the name of the dance, or it means Long Live Pakistan. Am I right in either of my theroies?

lol, it's the latter. although i could apply the first since pakistan's independance is a time of celebration and that accents the dancing girl and cat well. how did u know?

I think everyone should be appreciated, especially when we can create a more diverse environment. It's great to have the best of both worlds.
