Hi I have a good DivX file which comes with a "Subs" folder. within it, there are two file types... an ".idx" file and a ".sub" file
Can anyone tell me what software I need to have just to watch the Video with Subs on the PC? or which software would burn it to DVD with Subtitles?
thank you.

For playback via dshow; directvobsub (VSFilter) or FFDShow. mplayer, VLC, etc. have built in VobSub support.
Standalone support for VOBSub's is not the best. To add subs to your .DivX file you would need to OCR to a text format and then convert to xsubs.

on pc.
yopu need software, VobSub is one of it. so go download and install. the other one is FFDShow.
there's other media player that has VobSub built in it, mplayer, VLC etc.
for DivX standalone you need to capture the picture based subtitles thats use for dvd-video. and convert it to text form as in .srt
try subripper.
or if you meant you want to convert to mpeg2 for normal dvd, i think you can just mux the streams using dvd authoring tool. try dvdlab. i always hardsub. too lazy to make subpictures

If they are named the same and in the same dir then it will auto load them. They will be off by default though, but you can enable them by selecting the appropriate stream from the subtitle menu.

hi thanks for the advice... downloaded avi2dvd.. looks quite easy to use... but to load on the sub titles files, it only accepts .txt and .srt files. how do I convert .idx or .sub files to the ones needed?
thanks

Another case where you need to OCR them. Try SubRip.

I`m sorry for all this... And back to business:
DivX Players
http://www.divxmovies.com/players/
To play DivX movies in your PC you need to install DivX codec, DirectX and a Media Player which supports the codecs.
More about codecs: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/224750
Burning
You can try AVI2DVD
or
TMPGEnc (need VobSub)
This might be stupid but i will let it out...
Nephilim, is the idea to use edit button? Or make new post after you last post?

thanks guys... sorry to create a lil argument between u all... but yeah anyway... I have tried to use AVI2DVD to no avail...I don't really understand the output... it also says that the output was going to be a 9gb thing... thought it'd simply create a 4.5gb iso...?
Have got the Vob_sub as part of TMPEG..

hi
you need to set the output size, dual layer or dvdr5 size!
it will shrink to fit and make files for burning if set right!
also try this app...

film machine makes iso files get beta app
