V300 Usb Driver Problem?

Hi.
I've read plenty of threads, I very rarely register to get help for anythign as I can google for most solutions.

I have a v300 and just bought a USB Data cable from ebay and found an ISO for MPT.

After two days and plenty of reinstalls I'm unable to get my comptuer to detect my phone. I did manage to get it to detect my phone once and when I tried to transfer a file it disconnected and didnt connect again. I've installed the PST/MPT stuff. It says testing modem or something then tries to detect my phone but goes no further. I've installed all kinds of drivers but nothing seems to work. What could be the problem?
