My friend recently helped me install a modchip on my PS2, the Magic 3.1+. He soldered the chip onto the board, then tested it. According to him, the system boots and runs, but he is unable to get video, even after taking the modchip off. He did mention that my AV port looked damaged and that he would try to fix it, but he's not sure if it would solve the problem. I believe there is still sound, though.

Does anyone know whats going on? Is it because of the modchip or some other problem? Is there a way to fix it?

its more than likely that the cable is just not in properly or the metal around the port is bent making it fit in squint. Just be sure to check that all cables from your ps2 to your tv are connected properly. If it is the offcial cable or similar make sure the phono leads are in properly to the right colours and that its secured properly into both the tv and the ps2. Red (audio) White (audio) Yellow (video) just make sure these are cpnnect into the scart type connection.

If they are then the only other thing i can suggest is, where the cable connects to the ps2 which is a serial type connector is wiggle it about a little while some sort of video is playing on the ps2 which may give you a glimpse of video just try to do that and when you get it in the right position it may be a temporary fix.

If none of that works i suggest trying a different cable also it seems unlikely but it may just be the cable.

I believe he tested it on his own PS2, so I don't think it's the cable, though...

i am sorry to hear that ckramer.

i would suggest to get a mag glass and check for any bridged connections. and to make sure that all the wires are in the correct spots. if not, then you will have no video. also check to make sure every ribbon cable is in right and nice and tight.
