hi guys im a noob and i got to the last stage with jungle flash i think i erased ok cos when i click the id thingy it says 0x70 or somthing like that but when i go to write the firmware it comes up a message saying drive returned invalid status ?????? dont know what thats all about? my drive dont work anymore and it dont pic the drive up when i put my sata port in.it just says no divice detected like on the rest of the empty ports? everything was fine till i clicked erase.iv got my keys and made my fimware before this happend but can understand why when i press the id thingy to look at the status of it it gives it me but i cant read the drive or write???
help me please :-(

Silly question but have you tried it back in the xbox? cuz u might have fried your connectivity kit
light flashes on xbox and it keeps rebooting itself. im just going to return it back to walmart. Just a warning to anybody using a solderless lite-on key reader, be very careful when attaching voltage regulator and make sure it is securely attached and not touching any connection on back side of dvd adapter.
on another note, does anybody think there will be a way to get the key via sata for the lite-on drive, or is going to stay that you have to have a key reader?

You need to keep erasing the drive until it returns with a 0x72 status. Without that, you won't be able to flash your drive. Once you get that status, you will be able to do so. Do it either in jungleflasher (if you can) or I used dosflash 1.7

Was your drive still half opened ? this will give you a no drive detected if it wasn't.as long as you have all your drive info all is not lost you just may have to make sure you have erased in DOS and shouldn't you be getting a status of 0X72 ? once you are 100% sure you are erased try JF again to see if it will write back modified F/W...other wise you might have to do the whole process in DOS.

if your computer locks up or doesnt show the drive every time you connect your lite-on drive, what you will need to do is boot into dosflash... i wrote a little walkthrough of dosflash a couple of pages back

Thats highly possible as well,in a situation that occured to a friend with a benq and connectivity kit his CK gave up the ghost and it also rendered his Benq useless (bricked) so it's possible when one shorts it can bugger up both items.

iv just tryed again and iv got the right status of 0x72 when i erase but it still comes up the message drive returned invalid status when i try to write in jungle flash ???? my pc wont boot to dos with flash usb so im going to have to buy a floppy drive me thinks

Ordered a diy kit, got it today, flashed 2 Lite On's with it and had no problems. I used my v1.2 Connectivity Kit, which I've had forever. I used Team Xecuters tut for the Jungle Flasher. Everything worked fine. http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm
I figured the diy kit was cheap enough, so I ordered it. I had been soldering up until now. Just figured I'd post that the diy kit works great because I got tired of reading posts from noobs saying "you HAVE to use either the Maximus kit or the CK3 kit."

yep i did everything it said.a few times it said erase and my port number when i pressed write but it just frezes everytime iv done all the power cycles but no look

yeah, dvd adapter still works in my situation though, but im not going to use it again just incase it was the cause of my problem. I went ahead and ordered and new dvd adapter and key reader just incase. I was lucky enough to be able to return the console to walmart though.

Mine froze when I would try to write to it with jungleflasher. So I used dosflash 1.7. It works in windows. Just tell it to write, select the hacked firmware (make sure the right port is selected) and let it do it's thing.
I had the same issue with jf freezing when i told it to write, I used that and it worked first try. give it a shot.

ok mate i will try that.iv tryed again with jungle flash but now its stuck on 0x80 and will not erase at all

Now I used jungleflasher to erase BUT I believe you can use dosflash 1.7 to do the liteon erase command. And I therefore believe you can use that to make your liteon return the correct response required for flashing (if you can't get it to do so in jungleflasher).

if you wanted to update to 1.5 from a previous version, do you have to re-flash your drive? i ask this only because i am thinking about buying a pre-modded xbox 360 but thinking that one of the cons is that if i wanted to update the firmware in the future, i couldn't because i wouldn't have the tools in the first place.
i have bought a pre-modded ps2 in the past and whenever i wanted to update, i just had to pop in a cd.

Modded my first Lite On drive last night with WINXP, 360Xtractor + Spear, JungleFlasher and a VIA VT6421 RAID card. When i got to the erase stage in the process i turned my drive off and on within 1 second then my PC locked, the Lite On drive was not responding, couldn't open tray so i thought i bricked it.

I skipped the part to uninstall all VIA drivers and this is where i went wrong.
Must do - At the very start where it says to Uninstall all via drivers do so and be sure to delete the viamraid.sys file out of your c:\windows\system32\drivers so that Windows doesn?t reinstall it. This is what i missed and was using the via driver causing the drive to lock and Windows freezing.
Search all drives for this viamraid.sys file and delete it or make a backup to a USB drive for older 360drive mods. You cannot have this file on your PC anywhere otherwise you VIA card will reinstall automatically on reboot. You want your VIA card to be displayed as RAID Controller with a yellow question mark as show in the guide (link provided above).
Once i did this and had PortIO installed, Jungleflasher was reading the drive and i was able to write the hacked FW on.
I read alot online with many people having this same issue.

can anybody confirm for me, right below the r707 hole, is that a voltage regulator for the dvd drive? That might have been what i came in contact with and shorted out my board. Just curious and trying to save somebody from bricking their drive like i did.
