Well I have this video file... Shrek 2. And it is pretty large. Well, very very large actually. Here are the specs:

Size: 7856mb
Video: MPEG2 Video 1280x1080 (16:9) 29.97fps 11516Kbps
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384Kbps

I am playing it with Media Player Classic and it doesn't play so smoothly. Here is my hardware:

AMD Athlon 64 3000
1gb DDR2800 Ram
ATi AIW 9600XT
(CPU is overclocked just 350mhz, these things don't run too cool. And video card is also overclocked a tad. But I doubt none of it will really make any difference)

Anywas I'm using onboard sound for now, until I get a dedicated soundcard. Also, I am playing it on 1280x960 resolution on a CRT.

My question is that 1) is my hardware unable to handle it? And 2) is the fact that I am playing it on a resolution that is less than the size of the video affect performance? (1080 vs 960) And 3) is having no dedicated soundcard affecting it? I imagine it would, since it puts more load on the cpu. But don't know how much.

I will hook it up to my HDTV soon to test it in 1080i 30Hz resoltion to match the video resolution. I dunno if it'll run better or not.
