ok. First specs, then problems. This should make it easier to cross reference.
Specs : Modchip = Smart XX 2.0 solder in mod chip.
currently running build 3325.
my version of evo X is 3.6 eject fix.
i have a 160GB internal hard drive i ripped out of a DVR
formatted WITH SMART XX.
Problems :
first, the box needs to be updated. BAD.
Problem is updating the box, the HDD inside the box right now was hot swapped from the 7gb drive so it still thinks its a 7gb drive.
I've been looking into doing a bios flash but honestly i don't know where to start. As for how i've ATTEMPTED to do that i have been thinking of using the BIOS FLASH option included with the smartXX chip but isn't there an option in evoX that flashes as well? I've been reading that "XBtool" Works great for adding the LBA48 support that will make my 160gb realize that it's a 160gb. My question is when i replace the BIOS like i asked earlier, is it really just as easy as overwriting the existing file with this updated version from xbtool and then simply rebooting?
Every single website i frequent tells me "Try and see what happens, you could fuck everything up or it could work."
I have a couple of brief questions, first. Is it really just as simple as FTPing to the box and simply REPLACING the existing files with the updated files? Concerning evoX that is?
As for the current version of EVOX the apps i have, nothing works except for XBMC and DVD2XBOX.
MS dashboard crashes everytime and tells me my xbox needs to be repaired.
Trying to Launch a DVD fades to black and then right back to the EVOX menu...
look, i know a lot of this must have been trial and error for a lot of you and believe me the time and money ive spent on this box so far not to mention the danger i put my life through just to GET the hard drive ( yes seriously, i put my life in danger for a frigging hard drive )
It seems kind of stupid for me to let this thing sit around for two months collecting dust after all that i've done so far.
Anybody that can give me any kind of hand i will greatly appreciate it. I'll do anything i can in my power to compensate whoever can help me btw. Honestly, anyone from upstate NY i'll comp into my bar for two nights with drinks. For christ sakes. I'm nearly totally lost.
