I've been burning games constantly on and off. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I'd be able to burn a game without any skipping errors...but that rare. Usually takes me more than 2 tries to get the game in perfect, wokring condition.
Also, my burnt DVD-R games aren't always working. At first, I thought that something might be wrong with my burner, but I read a few sites and it could possibly be my DVDR media.
Many times, I get games that would skip at movies, or freeze during certain parts of the game or become very sluggish. More often getting "read disc errors"...so i'm assuming that my laser is in perfect condition and that it could be the media.
At the moment, I'm using HP with CMC. Is it possible that the whole time I've been getting coasters is because of the media I'm using?
Also, any recommendations to other media appreciated. At the moment, I'm looking at SONY, based on the recommendations on this site.

I've never had problems with cheap media, and I'm currently in the middle of a spindle of cheapass Memorex DVD-R. Could it be DVD+R incompatibility? Burning at a slower speed makes for a better quality copy with less disc wobble, etc.
You say it's an HP burner? Is that the company that actually manufactured the hardware, or maybe just the brand they put on the label?
The HP is the DVD-R media. and I'm burning at the slowest speed I can (Alcohol only gives me minimum of 4x...but when it burns, it becomes like...0.7x, which takes around an hour and a half for a full dvd.
I burn at the slowest speeds possible. Some games work...some don't.
i would try sony or a diff. media, just to test it out. if you are like me, you are always using blank dvds for something. so it isn't like you are going out and buying something you don't need.
tdk, verbatim, ritek, fuji are all good. cmc is not recommended from the sites i have seen.
