Hey everyone

just a couple of quick questions. I was wondering what I needed to take advantage of the HD xbox games so I've been searching for info here. Can someone just tell me if I'm missing anything? heregoes:

obviously the game and the tv has to support the HD feature. Now I don't have the adapter that you can buy for the xbox that gives you the svideo and component video outputs on it. Obviously I need that. I saw a madcatz adapter today and I was wondering if I should buy it or not. Has anyone used the madcatz adapter? does it work the same way as the xbox one?

The other question is that how do I hook up the audio after using this video adapter? are there audio inputs on this adapter as well? or is the audio already in the S-video and the component video? I know nothing about this. thanks for the info.

If you can find it, you should get the Microsoft HD Cable. Just my personal opinion.

As for the HD cables themselves; if your TV is HD ready the setup is very easy. Plug and play.

This is a pic of the one I have:

**edit: Don't get the adapter pack, you don't need that. The pic about is a cable just like the regular composite cables. All you've gotta do is plug into the back of the xbox and match the colors in the back of your HDTV. Easy enough right?! You will notice the difference.

Hello

I just picked this cable up recently and it works fine but I learned that my TV was not HD ready. In the manual for the TV it says 480i and I think this is default. On the xbox I think this mode is already enabled. I was pissed off about this but nothing I can do.

Now the problem I have is I can't seem to hook my xbox up to this surround sound receiver. I can't get it to play in surround. I've tried like every input/output on the receiver and can't get it working. This really made me mad. There's not even a spot on the receiver for the fibre optic cable for DTS. My parents picked out a system the other day and they don't know anything about this stuff so we ended up with this. Ah well...the surround works for movies and it is an improvement when watching stuff. Just wish I could get the xbox going too. Guess I will have to wait till I move out and get my own equipment.

@showan

No offense but your post has nothing to do with the thread high definition xbox - quick questions except for your first two lines :(. Your case is unfortunate but please, if you're looking for a solution of some sort your receiver issue; post it here:
