Hey guys first post here. Hopefully someone can help me out with my little problem. I have a Qoob SX chip, which I installed myself. It boots up into the Qoob bios, Original discs work fine. The lid override works fine. This all leads me to assume that I installed it correctly. The burner i am using is the Benq DW1640 with the BSLB bios. The media I am using are Taiyo Yuden 8x silver tops. They are authentic and not the cheapies. The media code is TYG02. So my problem is, I burn the dvd with my bios update on it, which is the "qoob_sx_13c_upgrade.elf" one. I've tried padding it with a dummy file between 1.0 to 1.3 gigs. I make sure the dummy file is the first file burned, by renaming it 0.bin, so the bios gets written on the outer part of the disc. I've set it to no multisession, ISO 9660 + Joliet, Max of 31 chars (lev2), ISO 9660 (standard ISO CD-ROM), with the default "relax restrictions" options and with just the "allow more than 64 characters for joliet names" on separate attemps. I burned the discs at the rated 8x and at the lowest speed of 2.5x. Now, when I stick it in the gamecube and power on I hold left and it doesn't seem to do anything different than normal. I know it is supposed to boot into the backup "safe" bios. Is this transparent to me or should there be a clue if it has boot up into the backup bios? I've also read to hold B when booting with the left D pad and this causes me to get a frozen bios screen which says "waiting for network update please restart". To continue, if I just assume it has booted to the backup bios, the laser just kind of jumps about the disc and eventually says reading disc ID, then I get Disk Read Failure. For the life of me I can't understand what is happening here. I can only assume that either I didn't install the chip properly and it isn't booting into the backup bios because of that, the gamecube doesn't like the media i'm using, the gamecube doesn't like my burner, there's something wrong with the chip, I am not burning the disc properly, or I need to do a pot tweak on my laser. So there's my longwinded explanation. I tried to give as much information as possible. Hopefully you guys have the patience to read it and have a nice short and easy solution for me. Thanxs a lot for the help.
