Here's the deal:
I have Swap Magic. However, it only works with PS2 CDs and DVDs. I don't want to purchase a separate package just to play PS1 games.

This site explains how to backup PS2 CD games to DVD:
http://www.home.zonnet.nl/joeriroels/Download/DVD_games%20DVDRIPS...

So I'm wondering, is there any way to change the PS1 game to a PS2 CD/DVD so you can play it with only Swap Magic on a PS2?

This might work. Rip your ps1 game so you have an iso. open it with Nero and when it says cd on the dialog box, change to dvd. Nero will burn what it calls high compatability dvd borders on the disk and that might work. tell me what happens if you try this. I seriously doubt it will work.

Swap Magic can't boot PS1 games because it contains the info to boot PS2 games not PS1 games. It won't work regardless of media. If you've noticed the post boot up screens are different for PS1 and PS2. Breaker Pro works for PS1 games and is only $20. Also I've booted most my PS2 backs just using an Action Replay on a PS1.

The psx games have different boot sectors than ps2 so they wouldn't match the swap magic regardless of whether it was a cd or dvd. Memnock is right about that.
