i just got 300gig Hdd in today now i am taking on the gruelling task of ripping all my dvds onto my htpc running beyond tv3 it was all running smooth until i broke out my stargate SG1 box set. I want to be able to have each episode as a seprate .avi. if anybody could explain if this can be done and how it can be done it would be awsome. by the way the programs im curretly running are dvdDycryter, Dvd Shrink, and AutoGK (all of them are newest versions)
thanks for any help

I suggest using DVD Shrink in Reauthor mode. Drag one title and commit it to file and do over for each episode. You've got a preview window so you can see what it is. You should be fine.

How much smaller are the AVIs than VOBs? I have my collection in VOB format (as I couldn't guarantee that I'd get the right language everytime.

For my SG1 collection (not ripped yet) I think each episode is one VOB, so individual files is not a problem...

ok thanks for the help worked perfectly, and to awnser you question __SPC__ usualy if u use dvd decrypter to rip the entire dvd the all the files will amount to about 7 gig and with "Auto Gordian Knot" also known as AutoGK you can make the avi any size you want just enter the value in where it says select an output size. i found that this program is much more simpler than divx to dvd plus the video looks excelent. heres the link in case u dont have it http://www.autogk.me.uk/ , hope this help, u will save a ton of space if u convert those vobs into avis i usually use 1/6 dvdr for 1 hour shows it is 746 meg, and 1/3 dvdr for 2 hour show that is 1493 meg.

You're the second one to recommend AGKnot - I *will* try it.

Thanks for the info.
