Are you running Any DVD in the background to get rid of the encryption on the disc. I backed it up no problem at all with DVDdecrypter in ISO to a DL disc and with Shrink movie only wth DD 5.1 soundtrack worked great each method.

Have you looked at the bottom of those originals?? Check for finger prints, scratches, smudges, etc. First think I always do before starting a backup is clean the original with alcohol and a soft cloth. If by chance you are trying a rental they are always damaged somewhat by other users that don't care about the disc because its not theirs.

Just had your problem 5 minutes ago trying to backup Lady Chatterly.
Assuming the original IS free of bad scratches and scuffs.
Also assuming you have a DVD-ROM drive AND a DVD-Writer: Use CloneDVD2 to rip the original from your Writer drive instead of your ROM. After the rip is finished CloneDVD2 will tell you to insert a blank disk. DVD-Writers often rip data more accurately than fast ROM drives on originals that are difficult reads. But they are slower.

Be advised that over the last 6 months we have run into more bad pressings of original dvds that ever before. If it is a bad pressing and the disc is clean and free of visual defects there isn't much that can be done. Using Decrypter, make sure you have checked (use brute force) and (ignor read errors) in Decrypters settings. Thats about all the choices I know of.

Since you've tried everything it's probably a lost cause on that disc.
Exchange it again. At least you got 1 done!

Probaly most of you guys don't know a new kind of protection on the Disc. This is new and nothing you can do about it even DVD Decrypter still cannot take out the block. I think that is for now and hope that some one will crack this again tomorrow...

I haven't tried this movie yet, but if it is another new encryption then AnyDVD should handle it. Thats why many of us always suggest AnyDVD as the decrypter. It is always updated very fast within a few days of the new encryptions being used. Its not that we get a kickback for selling everyone on AnyDVD, its just that it is the best decrypter out there.
There is a 21 day trial download of the full program to try. Doesn't hurt to try it.

along with the memebrs at AD I have found that the error is associated with abad pressing and/or bad media. It is amazing that blank media plays such a vital role but it does and so anyone should look at the media they back their movies up on. I agree that lately there has been an uprise of bad pressings and so if that doesn't fix the problem then I would suggest checking your blank media.

Progs of choice:
1. Dvd Rebuidler Pro. v. 1.01 Final/CCE Basic or HC by Hanks
2. Recode 2
3. CloneDVD 2
4. Intercopy 3 (I seem to not have any problems with re-authoring but I have e-mailed them directly and asked for them to revisit the issues with Copy 3 and Copy 4) I still like the quality.
5. AnyDVD running in the background.
Media used: Ty's 01's and 02's, Sony's, FuJi's made in Japan, Verbatims, and Maxell that are made in Japan.
Burn 90% of time at 4x, but on certain media burn at 6x.
