Just ran into 4 bad Verbatim discs, the first 4 that came out of new 50-pack. I was making a couple copies of a my DVDs for the kids room so that they dont have the originals. When they tried to play both movies they both locked up about 15 min from the end of the movies. I reburn both movies and the second copies are messed up at the exact same spot. I figue that maybe there is a error in the ripped copy on my hard drive but when I play both of them from the HD using Power DVD they play just fine at the spots that have problems on the burnt DVDs. I open another brand new 50 pack that I have and burn the two movies for the third time and this time both movies play perfectly. I have always used Verbatium DVD-R and have NEVER so much had a single coaster. Is it posible that this 50-pack is bad? I purchased them the last time Best Buy had the $19.99 sale going on for the DVD-R 8x 50 pack. I always burn at 4X and use a Plextor PX 716A drive. I have probally gone through 4 of these 50 packs without a problem before, what gives?

just sounds like a bad pack to me, good thing you had another Verb. pack to try them on, and as you stated, they were perfect~ :) so, with all information included, i would lean more towards a "bad batch", if the discs from another pack proved successful and nothing regarding your setup has changed...i would point the finger at just a "bad pack".

good day to you.

what burning software you using, could always be a setting that needa tweaking, and/or maybe too high a burn speed..

I've run into a few of those bad eggs on some sony yudens and ty-g01s shiny thermal printables. Sometimes I get down into a spindle and get a couple 2 or 3 in a row that won't be recognized by burner. When I encounter them,I then work from that spindle using the bottom ones until I get to that defective area of the spindle.

I haven't had any that errored out during the burn.

1 thing I do,is keep my backup target at 4360 mbs on all my quality media.I keep the burn from reaching the outer edge of disc. Saves on many issues down the road and it doesn't increase compression a whole lot.
