Hey I had the same problem I work at a car audio store, and you are getting a bad connection. If your subs are powered meaning they have a built in amp, then it's because your stereo needs to be turned up for your subs to get a good connection.

i cant remember the name pioneer uses for it, but do you happen to have the 'late night volume' on/off ?
i know on mine, it has a setting from 0 to max for watching tv at lower volumes but still be able to hear the music/movie as intended.

Alright man Im not sure bout this one, but tomorrow I can ask at work. Make sure your negative and positves match up the same on the subs and going into ur amp. Cuz if not ur subs may disort or even jus not work. How many amps do you have? On yuor ground cable goin to your battery make sure your little metal piece on your battery is not corroded and make sure your battery is not coroded if it is then jus buy i new piece for your battery and believe it or not pour coke on your battery and usually it will eat away the corrosion. What size ground wire are you running? Are any of your subs powered meaning you have a built in amp? Let me know if any of this stuff works.

gear79 the receiver i have i think doesnt have that feature...it just have the normal bottons like :tv,vcr1,vcr2,phono,ld,cd, and it has a lot of bottons for control the bass ,treble, balance, surround mode, master control volume...and believe me i already tried everthing..i dont know what else to do. it seem to be something simple..
the volume is from 1 to 10 but i only use it till 5 because its really loud in 5 ..and when its in 1 its when it starts doing the problem.

whats the model number? is it an older one or newer? i noticed you are running more speakers to it? are they home speakers or car audio? the ohms on the car audios are different. home should be 8 ohms.
