Hey, new here . . .
I have four DVD's of a conference and I need to bring them into some program and do VERY simple editing.

The DV tapes werent seperated by content. In other words, lecture two might be somewhere in the middle of tape three.

Basically I need to grab these VOB files - somehow edit them and create a DVD menu - then put them back on DVD's

What's the best way to do it?

I have adobe premiere 6.5 if it's needed.

Here's what you might do:

1). If you have multiple VOB files, you need to first index them using DGIndex.

2). Then Demux the video and audio stream into separate elementary streams.

3). Using Tmpgen Editor (or any other mpeg editor) to edit your video stream file.

4). Do your menu in programs like DVD Menu Studio or Photoshop.

5). Go to a DVD authoring program (my favorite is DVDMeastro) and put everything back (ie, video, audio and menus).

I got to step three.
Each file is about three gigs. I'm trying to edit it in premiere (which im a newb at) but im having trouble due to the overhaul.

ill keep looking for Tmpgen Editor. maybe it will work better.
if you have any other suggestions let me know.

Another thing you might want to try is instead of using the TMPGEnc editor, you can use the DVD Lab Pro's "Pro extention" under the tool menu.

The Pro extention has excellent Mpeg editing capabilities. It could cut out any segment you like, or keep any segment you like etc... In fact, this is what I use.

Adobe Premiere is not the program to use in this situation I am afraid.
