I have a PAL playstation 2 with the fliptop cover installed and a copy of an NTSC version of Star Ocean 3. But since you have to put in the swap magic disc before putting the game disc in, does that mean when I have to swap discs I won't be able to? Since I would have to restart the PS2 to put in the swap magic disc, and therefore my save data would be gone? Does this mean that all 2 discs or more games won't work with it? Hope I'm not being too confusing. If anyone has had any experience on this and could help me out here I would greatly appreciate it :)
2 Disc games will work fine with Swap Magic. I have Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Xenosaga Episode II, both of which are 2 Disc games, and they both work fine.
If you reached the second disc in a game, you simply swap it in after the Swap Magic CD has loaded and prompted you to insert a disc. The game will load to the main menu, at which point you select your save file, and go from there. :)
There are no special instructions for 2 Disc games that I know of.
Phew, that's a relief! So when you finish the first disc, the screen will then tell you to insert Disc 2, so all I have to do is take out disc 1, put in the swap magic disc, then after it's done take out the swap magic disc and put in Disc 2 of the game, and it should continue on with the game normally? I just thought that once you put in the swap magic disc then it would make the PS2 forget about the game completely... or something like that lol.
As long as you have saved your progress (which virtually every game asks you to do after finishing the first disc), then you are safe, and your progress will not be lost.
What I meant to say is that you have to pop in the Swap Magic CD AFTER a restart, not straight away after finishing the first disc and the game prompting you to insert the second one. If you attempt to do that, it will tell you that this is an invalid disc.
What you have to do when you are finished with the first disc is as follows:
1) After saving the progress after the first disc, reset the PS2 (it's ok to reset it at the "Please Insert Disc 2" screen)
Ahh ok, now I get you. You see, I thought that when you are at the end of disc 1 it would ask you to insert disc 2, but I thought there was no way to insert disc 2 in straight away with the flip top combo. But one thing I forget is that you can save your file at the end of disc 1 (hopefully this applies to other RPG's/2+ disc games too!) and then load it from the second disc. Thanks, you've been a great help :)
