I will burn a DVD-9 in the next few days and get back to you with the results. I bought these at Bestbuy Canada for the sale price of $14.99 for a 3pack.
I used DVD Decryptor to make an ISO of a 7.5GIG dual layer DVD. I then used Decryptor to write that same ISO to the Dual Layer DVD+R.
The first fujifilm blank i put in came up as Disc Not Empty, but the second one was fine and burned without any problems. I have not looked into the 'problem' disc, I just hope its not a dud.
I took a quick look at the burned DVD in my Malata dvd player and it worked great. I am not sure about the layer change, coz i have not seen this movie yet. I DID skip through the end chapters and everything worked fine.
I will update further once i have seen the complete movie, and I will try it on other player.
The disc that you said is a 'dud' .. If Best Buy in Canada is anything like the Best Buy here in Indiana, USofA .. Take it back, tell them what's up and they'll make things right
In my opinion, RICOHJPN media is excellent quality, I've had wonderful success with DVD+R discs manufactured bt them
