Our bless is upon you.

But beware, Alcohol is *extremely* good for burning images and doing CDs backups but you might have problems doing backups of files, building VCD and so on.

I would also suggets you to install Nero. It is fairly good for everything except for making backups of protected CDs (when you use Alcohol). The bundle version is 99% functional (except MP3 ripping).

More, if you want to rip/convert/edit Audio I would also suggest EAC ( http://exactaudiocopy.de ).

So, my suggested 'minimal perfect set' would be:
- Alcohol for backups and image burning;
- EAC for Audio CDs;
- Nero for everything else CD-R related (CD-ROM, VCD...).

(This is only my opinion of course, someone else might have other preferences ... )

Alcohol: Backups, images
Nero: File backups, MP3CDs, VCD/SVCDs
Feurio!: WAV or MP3 -> audio burns
EAC: Ripping & copying audio CDs, compressing MP3s

All downloadable at http://www.cd-rw.org or http://www.afterdawn.com

Bubbling under the favourites list is Padus DiscJuggle. The DJ shows quite a bit of power in CD pre-mastering and backups. Especially it's ability to verify the backups makes it interesting for burning important data - I am also testing it for PSOne backupping, due to it's unique verification abilities.

The old school is back. All hail the new http://BitBurners.com !

I have the 52/24/52 LiteON and I'd like to add in CloneCD for backup purposes as well.

There are "optimized CloneCD profiles" including Securom protection settings for LiteON drives.

Definitely yes to Nero, Alcohol 120% and Feurio!.

Do yourself a favour and pick up some 700mb CDRW's to test out your burns before committing them to CDR's.

AOpen and Jensen 700mb CDRW's are excellent quality in my experience.

brownics, next time open another thread.

BTW the answer is simple: you have selected 'Virtual device' on Recorder---> Choose Recorder menu instead of the burner.

There might be two reasons:
- last time you used Nero you ripped a CD, creating an image on your HD, selecting the Virtual Device;
- your burner is no more seen by Nero.

Try selecting a ner recorder (CTRL+R shortcut)
