How do you rip a DVD movie on to a DVD-r? I want just the movie on a DVD no special features. Please, I am a total noob so any advice would be appreciated. I am an expert on mod chips for ps2 and xbox so maybe we can exchange info.
It just so happens that I'm trying to learn how to copy xbox and ps2 games! Ok, first you need to figure out if the dvd you want to copy is DVD-5 or DVD-9. DVD5 (single layered 4.63 gigabytes or under) DVD9 (dual layered, over 4.63 gigs) So, put your dvd in your computer and find out if it's under 4.63 (DVD-5) or if it's over 4.63 (DVD-9). You will need a few programs. DVD Decrypter, IFOedit, VOBrator(optional really), and Nero (I consider it the best although there are others) If you can't find all of these, go to www.doom9.com or go to www.imesh.com and download iMesh. You can find anything on iMesh so if you download it you will be able to find these programs. just select "software" and then search. Anyways, I can't really explain more till you have all this stuff. Plus my fingers are getting tired. If it's just a DVD-5 then just use DVD Decrypter or Smart Ripper to save it to your hard drive and then burn it using Nero DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) UDF 1.02 onto a blank DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW. Simple as that. Where did you get the number 4.63 GB's? Did you mean 4.36 GB's?

I don't know where to begin to help you without more info on what you have for dvd software or what movie you are trying to backup or if you have done anything at all. I could write a guide, but there are many here. If you need help on one or two specific questions, I can help, but I need it narrowed down to more than "how do you do it?" because there are many different ways for the many different movies.
