Follow the site below, but before that, download "DVDDecrypter" and "DVDShrink" from this site.

read this first, it has everything you need to know! not just guide from SubaPete (which is great) but this link answers everything you wanted to know about burning and more! I learned a lot and I'm still learning, although I am becoming more of an expert now! LOL

Scuba......... I learned from you and BB!!! what's wrong with that! I pass it on cause it's how I learned! And if you noticed....... YOUR GUIDE IS IN THERE TOO! I never said:

So sorry my guides are so second rate
I must remember to pay HOMAGE to everyone or they will just down me!!!! I read AD..... I pass along information! I was thinking of making a guide........ BUT IT'S ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE ME!!!!! SO WHAT'S THE USE! I found BBmayo's link a long time ago and I pass it along! What's wrong with that. I use your guide, his guide, who cares so long as the word and the methods of doing the job right get passed along to whoever needs them! I have never claimed to say I have all the answers....... but I know where to find them! I think that you are too tempermental and to say I don't have my own knowledge about burning is crazy..... just cause I didn't make a guide or post my own links!!!! Who cares who gets credit for somethign that teaches how to do things! All I want to do is learn and I have! So I pass along what helped me! I'm sorry if I deflated your ego, Scubba..... but I bow to the people that passed before me and I am satisfied with my knowledge that I can burn everything out there and I am still learning! Lately I even was contemplating on just monitoring AD! Not even replying to people that need the help! For this same reason! I posted a reply and I get downed for not giving your link! I'm sorry..... and I think I will stop replying to help people cause it's stupid. Everything you need is here....... if you look for it! But I'm tired of defending myself to everyone because I passed along something that they didn't or that it deflated someone's ego or I have to defend myself to someone that's been a very useful guide to me, that means you Scubba...... I'm disappointed in you to say to me

Well after following the guides my first rip worked a treat.
would this also work when i'm trying to fit a 210 minutes film onto a 4.7 gb disc using shrink, or is there a better way or would i have to use two disc and if so is there a guide on hw to do this.

One more thing what procedeure would i use if i was to copy an already copied disc.

Thanx in advance.

I'm not an expert on writing guides, but give it a shot and see what happen alright.

((Here is a simple steps to back up a 7GB ? 9GB dvd movie on a single layer 4.7GB (DVD5) disc using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink or Nero. Assuming you already has all of the programs ready to do some burning.))

** open up your ?c: drive? or ?hard drive?, go to FILE, NEW, Folder, name it ?NEW_BACKUPMOVIE,? hit [Enter] to save it, and another one like ?FINAL_SHRINKMOVIE? or anything you want, hit [Enter] to save it, then EXIT.
** now go inside the 2 folders ?NEW_BACKUPMOVIE? and ?FINAL_SHRINKMOVIE,? go to FILE, New, Folder and name it VIDEO_TS <--- Yes? exactly like this under each folder, and hit [Enter] to save it. Now closed that.

((Before you start, let?s make sure you have some high quality grade media on hand ready in order to proceed. Please use high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden (genuine Yuden can be the Fuji & Sony 8X DVD+R ?Made In Japan?), Maxell ?Made In Japan,? and Verbatim.))

** put blank dvd inside your DVD burner (or put original in your DVD burner if you don?t have a dvd rom drive.)
** put original dvd in dvd rom

((NOTE: in prior to ?decrypt or rip? the original movie, take a few seconds to check the few following settings on DVD Decrypter.))
** open up DVD Decrypter, go to Tools, and Settings
** at General ?Removal Method? arrow down to ?Aggressive?
** at I/O check ?Ignore Read Errors?
** at CSS check ?Brute Force -->I/O key exchange, On Failure: use key from another file [YES]
** at ISO Write Mode, check ?Enable BURN-Proof

((Since you have DVD Decrypter open already, now let?s get going with the fun part))

** now go to MODE, File F
** choose your ?SOURCE? <-- your DVD-Rom drive or dvd burner where the Original movie is located.
** choose your ?Destination? <-- browse to your ?hard drive? with your newly created folder earlier; example: NEW_BACKUPMOVIE, then VIDEO_TS, click on OK.
** now click on ?DECRYPT,? wait until it's completed, and closed DVD Decrypter (this takes about 15 - 20 mins depending on your computer specs).

** now open up DVD Shrink, then ?Open Files?, and browse to your (NEW_BACKUPMOVIE), then VIDEO_TS folder that you created/ripped (with DVD Decrypter) earlier and click ?OK? to open it.
** DVD Shrink should do a quick Analysis now, wait until it's completed (it?s only 1 - 2 minutes).
** NOTE: if you want super quality and just the main movie only without the Extras, Subtitles and Menu, then you can click on "Re-author" mode, click on "main title 1" and drag it to drop under the "DVD Structure" on the left hand panel, then click on BACKUP, and OK.
** NOTE: if you want to do a ?CUSTOM? on a DVD-R/+R disc, set the CUSTOM to ?4300MB? or ?4360MB?, (to do this, go to EDIT, PREFERENCES,and set the MB size, then hit ?OK? when you?re done. (NOTE: if you want to Burn with Nero, then at ?File/IO?, [check] ?Enable Burning with Nero?)
** NOTE: if you want a "Full Disc Backup" with better quality, then you should set the "Quality Settings" to ?Maximum Sharpness? or to your desire (to do this, click on ?BACKUP,? Quality Settings, and click on ?Compress Video with High Quality,? and arrow down to ?Maximum Sharpness,? then OK.
** NOTE: on ?Burn Settings? you can set the ?Burn Speeds? and ?Book Type to DVD-ROM? if only you?re going to burn with Nero using a DVD+R disc (this is one of the best and safest way to go, I highly recommend.)
** now click on ?Target Device?, on select backup target: you can select to burn with either Nero or DVD Decrypter (create ISO Image File and Burn with DVD Decrypter) <--- your choice of burning and click on OK
** do this only if you?re burning with Nero: on ?Select Folder for Temporary Files:? browse to your ?FINAL_SHRINKMOVIE? then ?VIDEO_TS? and click on OK <--(this will store the already shrink/compressed 4.3GB movie files, so you can burn again later without having to shrink or encode again.)
** now hit ?OK?, sit back, relax, go smoke, drink, or watch a movie on your TV, DVD Shrink will do the encoding, wait until it's completed (this takes anywhere from 15 - 30 mins depending on your computer specs and how big is the original movie)
** once DVD Shrink is done, it should automatically back up with either Nero or DVD Decrypter (this is your setting earlier on the backup Target Device.)
** that's it.... easy as sipping on a Corona, now wait for Nero or DVD Decrypter to finish the backup process and you're done (this takes about 7 - 10 mins depending on your computer specs.)
** once you have a successfully backed up, now you can go to your NEW_MOVIEBACKUP, VIDEO_TS folder and delete all of those files, since you won?t need them anymore.

Hope this help you a little. Have fun burning!!!

((How to backup an already backed up DVD-R/+R to another single layer 4.7GB disc.))

Since this is an already backed up DVD-R/+R only (it?s already compressed to fit on any DVD-R/+R 4.7GB), there?s not much steps needed here. In addition, there is no special encrypted protection attach to it, so it should be really simple. You have 3 choices now, either to:

(1) have Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express do the burning as a copy to copy. (if you have a dvd burner and a dvd rom drive.)
(2) have DVD Decrypter to either Mode, ISO, Read R to your hard drive, wait until it?s completed then Mode, ISO, Write or you can burn the files on your hard drive by using Nero Burning Rom.
(3) or if the 2 steps above failed, then clean your already backed up disc (may be it?s dirty or has a few scratches on the disc). Now open up DVD Decrypter, Mode, File F to your hard drive and wait until it?s done. Once that process is completed, open up Nero Burning Rom and just back it up.
