I have an Iomega internal Zip CD writer that is reluctant to burn correctly unless I use top quality (expensive) CD's. I have recently updated the firmware to version 1.8 but this has not resolved the problem. I have tried Easy Creator with disastrous results, I currently use Nero, this is better but not brilliant, any ideas?

You give almost zero information, so no ideas.

One thing though...software doesn't affect burn quality. Software either works or it doesn't work and in Creators case it quite often doesn't. But first you say you have probs with media, but then you say that with Nero your results are a bit better -> the problem is not media then.

The old school is back. All hail the new http://BitBurners.com !

I'm 99% certain that my problem stems from the Iomega drive, I have borrowed a TDK external firewire drive that will burn any type of disk, so I need to know if I the Iomega Zip CD writer is really a pile of rubbish or is there anything I can do to make this drive better.

I hate to say this but.. IOmega drives are junk. Burners have come way down in price and maybe it's time to get you another one?

If you are going to get a drive. I recomend the the BusLink LTR - 52246S. This drive is made by LiteOn and can backup ANYTHING. Also, its burn speeds are: 52x24x52.
